Marcham Service Station was purchased in 1978 by Michael Summerville when the previous owner retired (Michael had worked at the garage since the late 1960's as a mechanic for Higgins Coaches).
Initially selling cars, a vehicle was needed to collect them which prompted the purchase of the first purpose built-recovery vehicle and, on writing to the breakdown clubs, Michael was accepted onto the network of National Breakdown (now Green Flag).
Since then the business, and the recovery trade, has seen some dramatic changes. Marcham Recovery now works for all the major breakdown providers and has a fleet of eight specialised recovery vehicles. Marcham Service Station makes it a priority to provide a high class service to all customers and it is proud of it’s ISO 9002 and PAS43 accreditation - proving their unusually high standards of service.
Michael still takes an active roll in the business today and is happiest rescuing customers at the roadside. These days he is supported by a ten-strong team of recovery technicians and to ensure the highest level of service is maintained there is a full time Quality Manager.
June 2006 saw the acquisition of Frilford Tyres and Battery, adding to the scope of service that Marcham provides. Marcham Service Station is proud of it’s reputation of providing a high quality and efficient service.
